Public Garden

Looking for a Strafford County gardening project to work on this spring? Want to maintain social distancing? Prefer to pick your own time and day? This may be your perfect project.

The Joe B. Parks Riverwalk Public Gardens is seeking 2020 garden Garden Tenders.

Situated along the banks of the Cocheco River off Central Avenue in Dover NH this urban oasis is a series of beautiful gardens filled with flowers, unique rhododendrons, mountain laurel, hosta, daylilies, and countless other plants, many relocated from Joe Parks’ own gardens.

The garden depends on volunteers to help maintain and tend to the gardens enjoyed by the public each year.

Tasks include spring and fall clean-up of garden beds and monthly visits to tidy up the gardens. Volunteers adopt specific areas or take on other responsibilities to maintain the garden space.

To become a volunteer, Check out www.joeparksgarden.org and then email contact@joeparksgarden.org, or give Elizabeth Fischer –a call at 603-817-1843.
