The same can be said about a successful plant sale. We’ve been doing it for 17 years now, and it still takes a leader, a committee, generous gardeners who donate plants from their gardens, hard working gardeners who pot them up, a benevolent tender, a set-up crew, cashiers, MGs willing to spend four hours selling and talking gardening, and a wonderful following of residents who buy our plants each year.
What do we do with our proceeds? As a volunteer run organization, every penny we make on our plant sale goes back into Strafford County. We fund new and on-going projects that benefit our fellow residents.
For example, this year we are funding three school gardening grants, paying postage for seeds sent to Strafford County gardeners through the UNH Cooperative Extension Free Seeds Program, and installing a Monarch Waystation at the Garden of Native NH Plants in Lee.
We have a wonderful group of hard working Master Gardeners in Strafford County as well as in the other nine NH counties. If you’re interested in becoming a Master Gardener, use this link to learn more about the program.
