One of the many services Extension Master Gardeners across the country provide is setting up an Ask A Master Gardener table at a variety of community functions.
On Saturday, May 5th, Strafford County Master Gardeners staffed a table at the Cocheco Mills Courtyard next to the registration area for the 2018 Dover Pride Clean Up Day sponsored by Dover Main Street.
Around 250 residents volunteered to provide spring cleanup to a variety of areas downtown including one of our projects, the Joe B. Parks Riverwalk Public Gardens.
We were able to talk to several residents about their gardening questions including growing zones, soil testing, growing a variety of fruits, transplanting lilacs and azaleas, gardening curriculums for children, annuals versus perennials, chipmunks and squirrel damage, pruning, and our May 20th plant sale.
Our new friend, Carmel Macchiato, resides at Our 4-Ever Farm in Barrington, and the children who were downtown on Saturday were excited to make her acquaintance.
Have a gardening question of your own? Contact the Extension Education Center and Infoline Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. which is staffed by Master Gardeners from across the state.
